In 2017, it will begin working and then will be the largest deep sea offshore windfarm.

1400 million euros invested. 70 windmilles / 34 Sq Km site / Electrical supply for 350.000 homes.

It´s going to be the largest deep sea offshore windfarm at a depth of more than 40 m. It´s the first to be built by a Spanish firm (Iberdrola) in Germany with 70 windmills installed in the Baltic sea, 75 kms from land northwest of Rügen Island on a 34 sq km site at depths between 37 and 43 meters. Once working in 2017 it will supply electricity to over 350.000 German homes, 20% of the total demand of the map state in which it´s situated (Mecklemburgo-Pomerania). It will have a 400 megawatt capacity thanks to the 70 windmills of 5 megawatts each and 150 metre high turbines.
